...More, Editing & Writing

Editing more...

Copy editing → grammatical errors, spelling and punctuation. We highlight and suggest corrections for misplaced words, misused words & phrases. Highlight heading/sub-heading formatting. Also, we edit tables, figures and lists, correct statistical annotations, footnotes, bibliographies & references, and graphical image text & photo captions.

  • Depending on you writing skills and level, copy editing can either be light (quick) or heavy (extensive)

Stylistic editing → We polish your document- eliminating jargon, run-on-sentences and dangling modifiers, correcting faulty syntax and clarifying word meaning.

Structural editing → This is intensive editing. We assess your work for organisation, cohesion and flow. We check the structure of your work and includes moving and/or cutting paragraphs, shortening/removing sentences, eliminate repeated (unneccessary) information, technical/specialised language is used correctly and consistently.

  • All corrections include comments & queries and all the changes can be tracked. Final document structure is approved by you. You can chose to make the suggested corrections and changes or not.

Proofreading → the final step in document revision before printing, presenting or launching (done on final drafts after at least one level of editing). It involves grammatical and typographic errors, inconsistencies, cross-references, page elements-headers, footers, running headers, page numbers, numbering of tables, charts, figures, page breaks), graphic placement and graphic text, table of contents, layout mistakes.

Tazama editors do proofreading on two levels:

  1. Micro Level-Ensures your writing conforms to both the writing standard of the English Language and your chosen formatting guidelines
  2. Macro Level- Ensures document flows smoothly, and concisely communicates your message to your target audience
    • Note: Editing and proofreading is not provided for documents where an external assessment evaluates for writer's language skills e.g., admission essays, term papers and class assignments
